Emergency Overview: The microorganisms in PART A of this
product include one strain of Nitrosomonas europaea, and one strain
of Nitrobacter winogradskyi, are both rated BioSafety Class 1 microorganisms,
as defined by the Centers for Disease Control, known to be unlikely to cause
disease in ANY humans, plants or animals. This pair of autotrophic nitrifier
strains are susceptible to the following commonly-available antibiotics:
Cephalothin, Ceftriaxone, Streptomycin, Chloramphenicol, Erythromycin, Penicillin
G., Kanamycin and Trimethoprim/Sulfoxazole.
The Bacillus microorganisms
in PART B of this product are rated BioSafety Class 1 microorganisms, as
defined by the Centers for Disease Control, known to be unlikely to cause
disease in healthy humans or animals. However, persons with compromised
immune systems should avoid contact with open wounds and/or breathing dust
or mist generated during the treatment process.Antibiotics to which each
strain is sensitive are listed following its genus,species and Alken-Murray
"house identification number" listed below:
- Bacillus licheniformis, strain 406, is sensitive to Amoxicillin/Clavulanic
acid, Cephalothin, Erythromycin, Gentamicin, Oxacillin, Streptomycin, Tetracycline,
Trimethoprim/Sulfa, and Vancomycin.
- Bacillus mojavensis, strain AMH 100, is sensitive to Ampicillin,
Cephalothin, Gentamicin. Tetracycline. Clindamycin, Penicillin, & Vancomycin.
- Bacillus subtilis, strain 405, is sensitive to Amikacin,
Ampicillin, Ceftriaxone, Chloramphenicol, Gentamicin, Mezocillin, Streptomycin,
Tobramycin and Carbenicillin.
Although the two strains of nitrifiers included in PART A of this product
were grown in a sterile aqueous medium containing nutrients, identified
in section 2 of this MSDS, the concentrations of each chemical remaining
in the residual fermentation broth, following ultra-filtration (increases
concentration of bacterial cultures and primary nutrients, while minimizing
remaining water and micro-nutrients) should be low enough that it has minimal
effect on anyone handling or working with the product. Although the Bacillus
cultures included in PART B of this product, were grown in a sterile
aqueous medium containing a variety of nutrients, including corn syrup
solids, digests of soybean and/or skim milk, glucose or other sugars, vegetable
oils, including olive oil, yeast extract, mineral salts, etc., the concentrations
of these residual nutrients are believed to be below levels capable of
triggering irritation.
